WEFLO, a company specializing in future aviation mobility (AAM) solutions, has been selected as the "Revaporative Innovation Company 100" in 2024, a public offering project by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
'Deposit Insurance Innovation Company 100' is a project to discover small and medium-sized venture companies with innovative technologies and select them as defense innovation companies, focusing on five major defense high-tech strategic industries such as space, drones, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and robots. Wiplo will be selected in the drone field and receive up to 5 billion won in state funding for technology development projects over five years, and will receive comprehensive benefits such as consulting, funding, R&D support, and export support.
Through this project, WEFLO plans to develop an automated/intelligent smart airframe inspection system for electrifying the drone system and lead inspection automation innovation in the defense industry. In the future, the battlefield is expected to be dominated by a complex system in which manned and unmanned systems cooperate to perform operations. In particular, drones are essential elements for various missions such as reconnaissance, monitoring, and attack, and the electrification of the drone system is a key task for securing future battlefield leadership.
WEFLO's solution automates and intelligents drone airframe inspection through multi-modal sensor and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. It is possible to determine the aging and failure of the drone's ▲ drive unit ▲ rescue unit ▲ battery unit ▲ exterior unit in a non-contact manner, and to predict and maintain the remaining life of each part.
In this project, WEFLO will establish an airframe inspection system and system necessary for electrifying drone weapon systems. It plans to be deployed in hangars or take-off sites of each unit that use drones as weapons systems, such as surveillance reconnaissance, strikes, and material transport, to apply them to education and training and mission performance, and to contribute to the rapid powerization of the drone system as a support system by packaging them with maintenance training, manuals, and insurance. In addition, technology is advanced to miniaturize, reduce, and optimize technology and apply it to a support system that can be operated in a complex manner by installing it on an agitating platform such as a ship or tram.
Meanwhile, WEFLO is also laying the foundation for smart infrastructure in preparation for the commercialization of future aviation mobility (AAM) in 2030. Last year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport established drone delivery infrastructure at more than 30 local governments across the country through the "Drone Delivery Commercialization Project" and participated in the drone infrastructure construction project for military transportation organized by the Drone Operations Command to build two infrastructures.
