WEFLO, a future urban aviation solution startup, drew attention from the industry by unveiling innovative AI-based safety inspection technology at the world's largest aviation fair. This technology, which was introduced at the EAA Air Venture Oshkosh 2024 in Wisconsin, the U.S., is expected to greatly improve the safety of drones and air taxis.
There are a total of three solutions unveiled by WEFLO at this exhibition. 'verti-Pit' is an AI smart inspection solution that quickly and accurately diagnoses the driving unit and battery condition of a drone. The "verti-Pit Pro" is a technology that closely inspects the appearance of an air taxi within about a minute, and the "verti-I" is a system that is mounted on an air taxi and monitors the gas condition in real time during flight.
Industry experts evaluated that WEFLO's AI-based automated inspection system will significantly increase efficiency and accuracy compared to conventional manual methods. This is expected to greatly contribute to strengthening safety, the most important task in the future urban aviation market.
Looking at global aviation industry trends, Walmart's drone delivery service is speeding up its commercialization, recording more than 6,000 cases per year. In addition, air taxi operations are scheduled for the upcoming Paris Olympics, raising interest in urban air mobility worldwide.
Through the participation in the fair, WEFLO drew the attention of global buyers and embodied the discussion of partnerships for the future aviation industry. The world's largest air taxi airframe manufacturer, Joby Aviation, Walmart's drone delivery operator Wing, unmanned cargo drone maker Skyways, and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) held talks to commercialize drones and air taxis, laying the groundwork for entering the global market.
Kim Eui-jung, CEO of WEFLO, said, "This participation in the EAA air venture served as an opportunity to promote WEFLO's technology to the world and establish itself as a leading company in the future aviation industry." He also said, "We will open a safer and more convenient future aviation era through continuous research and development of air taxi inspection solutions that will continue to be a 'game changer' for urban transportation systems."
