A total of 1.45 billion won will be invested to demonstrate the number and delivery of drones and promote commercialization projects.
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province, has been selected as the final candidate for the "Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's drone demonstration city construction project" in 2024 following 2022.
According to Pocheon City on the 29th, the city was finally selected for the "2024 Project to Establish a Drone Demonstration City by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute, and will invest a total of 1.45 billion won, including 1.2 billion won in state funds and 250 million won in municipal expenses, to demonstrate and commercialize drones.
The city plans to demonstrate drone innovation technology and accelerate commercialization to become a mecca for high-tech defense industry drones in northern Gyeonggi Province as the city has been selected as the "Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Drone Demonstration City Construction Project."
In this public offering project, many of the core competencies of the Korean drone industry, including the Drone Operation Command, Gyeonggi Daejin Techno Park, Sejong Cyber University, the International Drone Standards Industry Association, Sky Sports Drone Service Korea, Free New, Inno Sky, Rudas, Air Labs Korea, and WEFLO, participated in the cooperation system.
In connection with the special drone liberalization zone, which is the only designated and operated in Gyeonggi Province, the city will set up drone delivery bases at major points in Pocheon and deliver necessary items such as meal kits to major tourist destinations such as the Hantan River, Sanjeong Lake, Art Valley and Cheongseong Historical Park.
It also plans to work with the Drone Operations Command to establish a standard model for military drone transportation by transporting and demonstrating combat food, emergency supplies, and high-weight munitions weighing more than 40 kilograms, and to consider expanding drone infrastructure through the integration of the Drone Operations Command system.
