WEFLO, an AI-based dark factory platform company, announced that it has been selected as the '2nd Innovation Premier 1000' company in 2026.
"Innovation Premier 1000" is a government innovative company development program in which 14 ministries, including the Financial Services Commission and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, jointly discover excellent small and medium-sized companies by industry and link financial and non-financial support. Each ministry selects companies with innovation and growth according to its own standards, and policy financial institutions such as Korea Development Bank, Industrial Bank, Export-Import Bank, Credit Guarantee Fund, Technology Guarantee Fund, and Korea Growth Finance provide preferential benefits. In the second round of selection, a total of 547 small and medium-sized companies were listed.
The defense sector under the Defense Acquisition Program Administration was finalized after the first screening by the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute and the second screening by the Integrated Management Committee of the Defense Small and Medium Enterprises Support Project. The screening focused on the innovation of the technology it has and its potential for future growth, and WEFLO was named in the defense sector in recognition of its technological prowess and business scalability in the field of unmanned system inspection.
In particular, WEFLO is a 100 defense innovation company designated by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration in 2024, and was subject to related preferential evaluation in this screening. Since the designation of the Defense Innovation Company 100, WEFLO has sequentially accumulated business results in the field of defense drones. In 2025, the military experiment project of the unmanned aerial vehicle automatic inspection platform was completed before and after takeoff, and the military determined its usefulness.
With this selection, WEFLO can utilize non-financial support such as R&D additional points, IR opportunities, and overseas market development, along with customized financial support such as lowering interest rates and guarantee fees by policy financial institutions, preferential loan and guarantee limits, and investment in policy funds by the end of 2027. The company plans to expand its defense drone business and accelerate its entry into overseas defense markets such as the United States and Europe.
"As defense drones enter the era of mass operation, infrastructure that accurately diagnoses the state of the airframe and systematically manages maintenance data will become a key competitive edge in unmanned aerial vehicle power operation," said Yeejung Kim, CEO of WEFLO. "With this support program, WEFLO will grow into a company that presents standards for unmanned aerial vehicle inspection and maintenance data infrastructure in the global defense market beyond Korea."
